The pond serves a practical purpose as well: it is used for fire suppression. It is also town conservation land, covered by Sherborn’s conservation land regulations.

A flood-protection study

A Charles River Watershed Association study looked at possible improvements to the pond that could increase its flood-storage capacity, improve water quality and habitat around the pond, and help protect the nearby fire station during heavy rain.

The pond is an easy stop before or after time at the playground, a game at Jameson Fields, or a match on the courts. For longer walks, see our trails and the outdoors guide.
